How to setup HTTPS and SSL on WordPress
Posted by Support Staff, Last modified by Support Staff on 27 March 2017 09:23 AM

We have had quite a few questions from clients asking how to setup their site to use https or their sites ssl certificate.
Since google is trying to force https on all sites via chrome and soon to be for SEO, we have put together a guide with some links on how to do it.

Here is more info on what google is wanting everyone to do now:

The task of changing over to https on WordPress is actually pretty simple.
The first step would be to change your sites url to be the secure https version by logging into your WordPress site.
Once that is done you would need to go to settings > general > and change the following fields( Wordpress address url, Site address url)
You would change http to https and c lick save.

The next step would be to setup a redirect in your sites .htaccess file to force all traffic to use https.
You would do that by adding the following lines of code to your .htaccess file:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$$1 [R,L]
For further info on how to make the change to https and use SSL on your site, please see the following guides:
